Display Magic has revealed plans to shortly launch a micro PC form factor product ideally suited for the E signage market. The unit, known as the Backpack PC, will find a perfect fit in applications requiring full functionality for downloading and playing MPEG and other formatted clips as well as simultaneous, streaming content. The company is seeking to address what it anticipates will be a strong demand for a PC which can be integrated into industry standard VESA mount - wall, pole, and articulating arm types. The Backpack PC will come standard with WindowsOS, but can be shipped with other operating systems such as Linux. Backpack PC is designed to drive both plasma and LCD displays, with resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 (full high definition). Unique features of these are its quiet design, ease of use with off-the-shelf brackets and displays, and its integrated security.
